TMS Preference Cards

TMS is a complete physician preference card system as well as a perpetual inventory management system for all the supply management requirements of surgical services

The preference card system carries a unique card for each combination of procedure type, doctor, location, theatre, etc.  The setup of the cards is hierarchical such that details established at one level flow down to lower levels – this approach allows for easy setup of the cards and provides a sound basis for comparative reporting and cost analysis between surgeons.

Management

The TMS preference card system combined with a broad array of inventory management capabilities enables the entire supply management and charge capture workflow. Regardless of how supplies are stored throughout the facility, the system is fully integrated to manage supplies stored in both open shelving or within storage systems.

Real-time case management allows dynamic adjustment of the supplies issued during the procedure. The system additionally tracks all required time segments for reporting, data analysis and charging purposes.  Preference Cards can be applied to Pre-Operative work, Anaesthetics and Recovery just as easily as they are to Theatre.

Tally Sheets - non-invasive recording

Companion Tally Sheets are used in theatre to record where consumption has not been what has been typically expected for this surgeon performing that procedure.  Only items of doubt (will it be Item A or Item B that is used) or variations in quantity (2x used rather than the typical 1x) are recorded – all else is automatically applied by TMS processing.  The Tally Sheet also facilitates recording of wasted consumption and extraordinary items through a simple ‘tick the box’ approach.

The Key Benefits

  • TMS automates the preference card process
  • Companion TMS Tally Sheets (used in theatre) only record exceptions – nursing staff involvement with the TMS system in theatre are kept to the absolute minimum (typically much less than a minute)
  • Provides complete support of open supply systems as well as secure cabinets
  • Automates the replenishment process, ensuring supplies are always on hand (stock, non-stock and consignment)
  • Performs costing electronically (and optionally charging) of supplies, procedure associated labour, and time, and can eliminate re-keying of costing (optional charge) transactions
  • Reduced department inventory levels and increased inventory turnover
  • Improved accuracy of detail bills for all surgical cases
  • Increased supply service levels.
